Easy Weeknight Seafood Boil Recipe

A seafood boil does not have to be an all-day event. This easy weeknight version keeps the ingredient list manageable while still delivering the buttery Southern flavor people love.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large raw shrimp, thawed if frozen
  • 12 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 pound baby red or yellow potatoes
  • 3 ears corn, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • Chef Bae® Seafood Boil Seasoning, to taste
  • Fresh lemon wedges, optional
  • Chopped parsley, optional

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until they are beginning to become tender.
  2. Add the smoked sausage and corn and continue cooking until the potatoes are nearly done.
  3. Add the shrimp near the end. Large thawed shrimp cook quickly, so watch them closely and remove the pot from the heat when the shrimp are opaque and pink with a loose curl.
  4. Drain well.
  5. Melt the butter over low heat and stir in Chef Bae® Seafood Boil Seasoning. Taste and adjust before pouring it over the seafood boil.
  6. Toss the shrimp, sausage, corn, and potatoes with the seasoned butter. Finish with lemon or parsley if desired.

Why This Works for a Weeknight

Shrimp cook quickly, while smoked sausage is already cooked in many packaged varieties and simply needs to be heated according to its package directions. Cutting the corn into smaller pieces and using baby potatoes keeps prep simple.

The biggest trick is adding ingredients in stages. Potatoes need the most time. Shrimp need the least. That prevents rubbery shrimp and undercooked potatoes.
